A lot of people are being tricked into use the the New Outlook program on their computers. There a many better options out there, but if you are stuck with it and you suddenly get a problem with either sending or receiving emails there has been no way to fix it.
Microsoft have finally updated the program and you can now update the settings. Prior to the update you needed to delete your account and re add it again, running the risk of losing information you had. I have here the steps you can take to fix the issue now. the pictures attached show the screens you can expect to see, using a test system I put in place.
The attached pictures show you what to roughly look for as I walk through the steps.
1. In New Outlook click on File in the top left corner and click on Settings
2. Go to Accounts and click on the Manage button for your email address
3. You should then get a screen similar to this, scroll to the bottom
4. Click on the Repair button
5. You will need to type in your email password on this screen, make sure the IMAP Incoming server box hasthe incoming settings from your provider, imap.telstra.com or mail.optusnet.com.au as examples.
6. Make sur ethe SMTP username is your email address, the SMTP password is your email password, again, the SMTP Outgoing server should be either smtp.telstra.com or mail.optusnet.com.au and the port number should be 465. The Secure connection type should be SSL/TLS (recommended) click on the continue button and you should be back on your way.
If that doesn’t help you might need to delete your account from Outlook and put it back in.
If you need to put it back in the import thing to do, when you open Outlook to put your account back in is to make sure you.
